After a long hibernation in snow, people in Fukui finally wake up and venture out of their comfortable nests to do just one thing. What makes them go out? Cherry blossoms of course! There are several famous places known for Sakura viewing in Fukui. But the Asuwa Riverbank is probably the one place local people never fail to miss. Selected as one of the 'Top 100 places noted for sakura viewing' in Japan, the rows of 660 cherry trees in full bloom on both sides of the river will surely take your breath away! For night-time cherry trees on this riverbank, please look at my other photo story.
